Permanent Eyeliner in Chișinău: What to Know

Permanent eyeliner is the service people ask about far more often than they talk about it. Most of the women who come to it are not after a theatrically outlined eye — they want to stop spending five minutes every morning with an unsteady hand. Here is what the treatment involves, honestly, from the consultation through to the touch-up.

What permanent eyeliner is, and what it is not

It is permanent make-up applied along the lash line, with pigment placed superficially in the skin. It is not a tattoo in the classic sense: the pigments used in permanent make-up fade gradually, which is why the service is called semi-permanent rather than definitive.

Nor is it a replacement for liquid liner. It will not give you a thick graphic line with a sharp flick. It gives you a base — the density that is missing between the lashes.

How subtle it can be (and why that is the aim)

The most requested version does not read as a line at all. In salon language it is called filling the interlash spaces: the pigment goes between the lash hairs, and what someone reads from a metre away is “your lashes look denser”, not “you are wearing liner”.

From there you can go up: a fine line following the shape of the eyelid, or something rather more defined, if that is what you want. But the direction we recommend remains discretion.

Sometimes the most beautiful result is when people simply notice that you look fresher, without quite working out why.

From the studio’s experience

How the session goes

The session lasts around two hours and runs in three stages.

  • The consultation. Compulsory and included in the price: we discuss the contraindications, the shape of your eyelid, the thickness you want and the shade. This is also where you flag any condition, medication or recent procedure.
  • The preparation. The area is disinfected, the topical numbing cream is applied and the path of the line is set out. You approve the shape before the first pass.
  • The work itself. The pigment is laid down in successive passes, with the eye closed. We work one eye at a time, with breaks — it is not a race.

We keep strictly to the hygiene standards: single-use materials wherever they are called for, and sterilised instruments. In a treatment that touches the skin around the eye, hygiene is not a marketing argument, it is the minimum condition.

Sensations and healing, honestly

We do not promise you will feel nothing. Most clients describe the sensation as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, precisely because we use a topical numbing cream. A stinging or vibrating feeling can come up, and sensitivity differs from person to person and with the days of your cycle — which is why we suggest avoiding appointments during that time.

For the first few days the line looks more intense and thicker than it will stay, and the eyelid may be slightly swollen. Then a fine crust forms, and it has to be left to come away on its own. Do not rub it and do not hurry it: wherever a crust is forced off, the pigment leaves with it.

The intensity drops visibly once healing is done — with permanent make-up generally, by as much as 40–50% against the day of the treatment. The final shade is judged only once the skin has recovered completely, not the next morning. The full healing calendar, day by day, is in our article on PMU healing.

Contraindications and what to say at the consultation

We do not do permanent make-up during pregnancy and breastfeeding, during oncology treatment, with unstable diabetes, with clotting disorders or anticoagulant treatment, with active skin conditions in the area, with a tendency to keloid scarring, and not sooner than 2–4 weeks after botox, filler or a peel in that area.

For the eye area there are a few more things you must tell us: any ongoing eye infection or inflammation, recent eye surgery, contact lenses (they come out for the duration of the treatment) and lash extensions — these are removed beforehand, we do not work over them.

For 24–48 hours before, avoid coffee, alcohol and blood-thinning medication, unless it has been prescribed to you. If you have a chronic condition or take medication regularly, tell us at the consultation and, where needed, ask your doctor’s approval.

How long it lasts and when the touch-up happens

Permanent make-up lasts 1–3 years in general, depending on your skin type, the shade chosen and your care routine. On oily skin the pigment fades sooner, exactly as it does on brows.

The touch-up is done 1–3 months after the first session and is not a sign that anything went wrong: it is the second half of the same piece of work. That is when the colour is set and the areas where the pigment did not take evenly are filled in.

Price and duration at MY MARAFET

Permanent eyeliner is from 2,000 MDL and takes around two hours. The eyeliner touch-up is from 1,000 MDL, with an hour allotted. The consultation is included. All the other permanent make-up services and their rates are in the price list, kept up to date.

The work is done by Lesea, the studio’s founder, who handles permanent make-up. If you have questions or fears you have never said out loud to anyone, they are exactly what the consultation is for — and many of them are already answered in our article on the fears around PMU.

FAQ

Does it look like drawn-on liner?

That depends what you choose, but the most requested version does not read as a line: the pigment fills the spaces between the lashes and gives the impression of a denser look. A more defined line can be done, we simply discuss it and draw it together first.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, because we work with a topical numbing cream. Sensitivity differs from person to person, so you tell us how it feels as we go and we adjust the pace.

How long does it last, and can it be removed?

It lasts 1–3 years in general and fades gradually. The touch-up is done 1–3 months after the first session. We only use a remover on brows and lips, not on eyeliner, so the thickness and shape of the line are chosen with extra care at the consultation.
