Permanent Eyebrow Makeup: Techniques, Pain and Healing — What to Know First
Permanent eyebrow makeup, also known as eyebrow micropigmentation, is one of the most requested treatments at MY MARAFET STUDIO; prices and booking are on our page for permanent eyebrow makeup in Chișinău. The appeal is simple: you wake up with defined brows and never reach for a pencil or brow gel again. But behind that convenience is a procedure worth understanding before you book. Here is everything you need to know.
What eyebrow micropigmentation actually is
Micropigmentation is a technique that deposits pigment into the upper layers of the skin to correct the shape, density and symmetry of your brows. Unlike a traditional tattoo, the pigment sits closer to the surface and is formulated to fade gradually and naturally over time. The goal is never a “drawn-on” look, but a result that reads as soft powder makeup on your natural brow shape.
The technique we work in: powder brows
- Powder shading — a soft shaded effect, lighter at the start of the brow and more defined toward the tail, like discreet powder makeup.
- Who it suits — oily skin too, and anyone who wants a more defined contour that reads as makeup, not a tattoo.
- Not offered — we don’t do microblading (hairstrokes) or the combination technique, only powder brows.
During your consultation in central Chișinău, at 6 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd, we choose the shade and the brow design together based on your skin type, face shape and the look you want.
How the procedure works, step by step
A session lasts around two to three hours and includes several stages:
- Consultation and mapping — your facial proportions are measured and the outline is drawn with a pencil until you are fully happy with the shape.
- Pigment selection — the shade is matched to your natural hair and skin tone.
- Local anaesthetic — a numbing cream is applied for comfort.
- The micropigmentation itself — pigment is deposited in the powder technique.
- Aftercare guidance — you receive clear instructions for the healing period.
One to three months after the procedure a touch-up is performed, which sets the colour and corrects any small unevenness that appears during healing. The touch-up is booked and paid separately, from 2,000 MDL.
Healing and aftercare
In the first few days your brows may look bolder and darker than expected — this is normal. A phase of light flaking follows as the skin gently renews itself, and the true colour only emerges once the process is complete, generally within two to three weeks.
During healing it is important to avoid excess water on the area, saunas, swimming pools, the beach and direct sun exposure, and not to touch or pick at any scabs. Proper hydration with the recommended product supports even healing and a long-lasting result.
How long it lasts and who it suits
Results last 1–3 years in general, depending on your skin type, lifestyle and sun exposure. Oily skin tends to fade pigment faster. A yearly refresh keeps your brows looking their best over the long term.
The treatment is ideal for anyone with sparse or asymmetrical brows, gaps from years of over-plucking, or simply anyone who wants to save time in the morning. There are also situations where the procedure should be postponed — for example during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with certain skin conditions in the area, or during some medical treatments. At the consultation we discuss any contraindications openly.
Current prices for the treatment, the touch-up and the yearly refresh are in the table of permanent makeup prices, and the consultation gives you a clear quote with no hidden costs.
Does it hurt? Fears and answers
Thanks to the numbing cream, discomfort is minimal. Most clients describe the sensation as a light scratching or tingling that is easy to tolerate. Pain thresholds vary from person to person, and sensitivity can be slightly higher on certain days of the menstrual cycle.
Will my brows end up black and tattooed-looking?
No. The modern powder brow technique uses mineral pigments in a shade matched to your skin and hair, so the result reads as softly made-up brows, not a tattoo. The pigment fades naturally and gradually — it does not stay for life.
What if I do not like the shape?
The shape is drawn and approved together before any pigment goes in — nothing starts until you say yes. The touch-up at 1–3 months refines the result once more.
I have old, badly done permanent brows — can they be fixed?
Yes. The old pigment is removed with a remover, usually over several sessions. After the last session, wait at least 1.5 months before new permanent makeup. Prices for both stages are in the permanent makeup price list and are confirmed at the consultation.
How do I choose a good permanent makeup studio?
Look for a studio with a real portfolio of healed results (not just photos taken right after the procedure), verifiable reviews, strict hygiene standards and single-use needles and pigments. MY MARAFET STUDIO is located at 6 Constantin Negruzzi Blvd in central Chișinău, holds a 5.0★ rating on Google and works with modern techniques tailored to each client.

FAQ
Do you also do hairstrokes (microblading)?
No. We do eyebrow micropigmentation in the powder technique only: soft shading, lighter at the start of the brow and more defined toward the tail, like discreet powder makeup.
How long does a permanent brow session take?
Two to three hours on average. That covers the consultation and brow mapping until you fully agree with the shape, choosing the pigment, the numbing cream, the pigment work itself and the aftercare instructions.
When should the procedure be postponed?
It is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if there is a skin condition in the brow area, and during certain medical treatments. Any contraindication is discussed openly at the consultation.
