Brow Bleaching in Chișinău: Who It Suits
There is a type of brow that no tint can fix: the dense, black, cold hair that looks heavy on every complexion and seems even darker after each salon visit. Bleaching exists for that brow. It is not a trend treatment, it is a shade correction — and it does not suit everyone.
What bleaching does, and by how many tones
Chemical bleaching lifts the shade of the hair so that we can then work on a neutral base. Our rule here is clear: we lift by one to two tones, maximum. We do not go further, because past that limit the hair visibly changes texture and the brow starts to look artificial.
The aim is not a blonde brow. The aim is to take out the cold, dark undertone that drags the whole face down, and to bring the brow closer to the shade of your hair.
More and more clients with thick, dark brows choose a gentle chemical bleach, through which we lift the shade of the hair by 1–2 tones, maximum.
From the studio’s experience
The signs you need it
- your brows are obviously darker than the hair on your head, even though you have never tinted them;
- the hair leans cold — grey or blue-black — rather than warm;
- after every salon tint they feel even blacker to you, whatever shade was chosen;
- the brow reads as one compact line, with no internal drawing;
- you have tried lighter tint shades and nothing changed, because the natural hair dominates.
That last point is the key one: tint deposits pigment, it does not take it out. On very dark hair, a lighter shade simply does not show.
Why bleaching comes BEFORE thinning
The order is not a preference, it is a safety measure. After tweezing, the skin becomes sensitive and the pores open, and working with strong products on freshly traumatised skin is not something we want to do. So we bleach first and only then remove hairs.
If a salon proposes the reverse, ask why. For us, the sequence bleaching then thinning is part of the protocol, and it is taught that way on our courses.
Bleaching and toning: why we do not stop halfway
Hair that has only been bleached stays neutral, sometimes with a trace of yellow left in it. That is why, in most cases, toning follows the bleach: a gentle shade that settles the colour exactly where it should be, adapted to your complexion and your hair. We work with professional tints, and the shade is mixed for each client individually rather than taken off the shelf.
The complete result — bleaching, toning, thinning — is a brighter, airier, lighter brow that no longer steals attention from your eyes. If you would first like to understand the difference between henna, tint and lamination, read our guide to choosing between them.
Who we do not recommend it to
We postpone the treatment if there is irritation, broken skin, eczema or sunburn around the brows, if you have recently had a chemical peel or a retinoid treatment on the forehead, or if you know you are allergic to colouring products — when needed we do a patch test 24–48 hours beforehand. During pregnancy and breastfeeding we talk it through with you first and only then decide.
There is one more group: sparse brows, with fine hairs and gaps. There the problem is not the shade but the density, and bleaching has nothing to solve. Likewise, if your hair is already light, we do not force another tone onto it just for the sake of it.
How long it lasts and how it looks as it grows out
The effect shows on the treated hairs and holds until they are replaced in the natural growth cycle. There is no abrupt line of demarcation as there is with the hair on your head, because a brow hair is short and renews often; gradually, the darker roots blend into the mass of the brow.
In practice, the treatment is repeated at the maintenance visit, together with the shape correction, at three to four weeks. Toning can be refreshed separately if the shade fades faster — just like an ordinary tint, how long it holds depends on your skin type and your home care.
Prices and duration at MY MARAFET STUDIO
Shaping with bleaching starts at 350 MDL and takes around 40 minutes. The complete version — bleaching, shaping and toning — starts at 450 MDL and takes about an hour. All rates are “from”, because they vary with your artist’s level; you will find them on the prices page, alongside the rest of the brow services.
If you are an artist yourself and want the technique, bleaching, toning and Oxygen O2 are covered on day three of the beginner course, and at the one-to-one masterclass with Lesea it can be the subject of the whole day, with practice on two real models.
FAQ
Does bleaching damage the brow hair?
Any process that lifts colour acts on the hair, which is why we stop at one to two tones and do not push further. Past that limit the texture of the hair visibly changes and the result no longer looks natural.
Can it be done on brows that are already tinted?
It depends which pigment is on the hair and how recently it was applied. We assess this at the consultation at the start of your visit and, if necessary, postpone the bleaching until the previous colour has faded.
How long does the bleaching effect last?
On the treated hairs it holds until they renew naturally, and in practice the treatment is repeated at the correction visit, at three to four weeks. Toning can also be refreshed on its own.
