A Day at My Marafet: the Team Behind the Treatments

A day at MY MARAFET STUDIO means six artists, each with her own speciality, appointments running from morning to evening at Bd. Constantin Negruzzi 6, and an atmosphere where there is a lot of laughter but the work is taken seriously. Here we introduce the people behind the treatments and the rules we work by, so you know who you will meet when you walk through the door.

Who works in the studio?

There are six of us, and when you book you choose your artist yourself:

  • Lesea — the studio’s founder, brow artist and permanent make-up (PMU) artist;
  • Anastasia — brow artist, lash lift and make-up;
  • Sabina — brow artist and lash lift;
  • Mariana — lash extensions master;
  • Diana — brow artist and lash lift;
  • Daniela — manicure and pedicure (in preparation).

Four of us — Lesea, Anastasia, Sabina and Mariana — also teach on the academy’s courses. You can feel it at the work station: someone who explains to a student every day why a step is done a certain way can explain it to you too, in plain words.

And none of us works on her own little island. If you come in for brows and ask about lashes, your artist will tell you honestly which colleague does that and what would suit you. And when a piece of work needs a second opinion, a colleague is two steps away.

The MY MARAFET studio on Negruzzi 6 on an ordinary day

What does an ordinary day look like?

Before the first client, every station is ready: tools cleaned, materials within reach, the day’s schedule checked. Booking is online and every treatment has its own time slot, so we know in advance who is coming and for what.

The day has its own rhythm: twenty-minute brow shapings between hour-long lash lifts and two-and-a-half-hour permanent make-up sessions. In between, we compare notes, ask each other’s opinion — “which shade would you go for here?” — and laugh. And Daniela will work at the manicure table in the same studio — manicure is in preparation, and once bookings open you will be able to have your brows and nails done on the same day without running across town.

What hygiene rules do we follow?

Hygiene is not something that happens “backstage”; it is part of the treatment. Before any brow or lash treatment the area is cleansed and degreased, and single-use materials are used wherever they are called for.

We teach the same rules at the academy: cleaning the lash-lift pads and tools is a topic of its own on the lash lift course, and hygiene and sterilisation on the lash extensions course. It would be strange to ask students for something we do not do ourselves every day.

What you tell us matters just as much: allergies, recent skin treatments, pregnancy. With that information your artist decides whether the treatment goes ahead today or is postponed — and explains why.

What is the atmosphere like between appointments?

Anyone who follows us on Instagram already knows: we like to laugh. We film sketches, tease each other and do not take ourselves too seriously — ourselves, not the work. Because behind every beautiful result there is something other than luck:

In fact, behind every artist there is a little bit of talent and a lot, a really lot, of work.

From the studio’s experience

That atmosphere is not decoration. A relaxed client lies still, and a brow or lash treatment turns out better when you are not tense. That is why we talk, joke and explain what we are doing — and when quiet and focus are needed, for example while drawing the shape, we keep it quiet.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes. We are “brows & pet friendly”, as we say ourselves in one of our reels. If you would like to come with your dog, let us know when you book so we can plan for it: some clients may have allergies, and we want your visit to be comfortable for everyone.

How do you choose your artist?

On the team page you will find each artist with her speciality, plus real client reviews. If you know which treatment you want, choose by speciality. If you do not, message us and we will tell you who suits you — sometimes it is not only about technique but about pace: some clients want to chat the whole time, others would rather doze off.

Once you have chosen, booking is online, on the booking page, where you pick your artist and time.

And if the craft wins you over?

It happens more often than you would think: a client spends an hour on a treatment, asks questions, then asks where people learn this. The courses take place in the same studio and are taught by artists you have already met during a treatment — with practice on real models and a certificate on completion.

Until then, we look forward to seeing you for a treatment. And, if you like, with your dog.
